On January 9, 2018 the Board of County Commissioners voted to approve the installation of NO PARKING signs in Autumn Glen. The BCC acknowledged that in 2003/2004 the homebuilder, D.R. Horton, was given approval to develop the Autumn Glen community with streets that are now considered four feet too narrow in width. In the past, allowing parking on both sides of the street prevented safe traffic flow for school buses, the trash truck, and most importantly - emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks. As the community grew, many AG residents complained to the Clay County Sheriff's Department and asked for the Association to fix the parking problem.

Without legally being able to tow or ticket parked cars on the street, the Association for several years, asked residents to park only on one-side of the street, and to "park with courtesy" to prevent creating "the squeeze". Awareness letters were mailed, notes were left on vehicles and multiple enewsletters were sent to all AG residents asking for parking courtesy. Sadly, AG streets continued to be blocked when cars parked on both sides of the street. Because of this, in 2017, the county was asked to find a solution in order to keep AG streets passable for emergency vehicles. With resident safety in mind, the Clay County Department of Engineering and Public Works organized a traffic study with guidance from Clay County Fire and Rescue. The results of the traffic study produced the new Autumn Glen parking map.

Why can't I park on either side of the curve?

Answer: Clay County Fire and Rescue determined that cars parked on either side of the curve may create a navigational hazard for the fire truck. Seconds matter when protecting property and saving lives.

Why can't I park in the cul-de-sac?

Answer: Clay County Fire and Rescue determined that parked cars could prevent the fire truck from being able to quickly and easily reach homes in that area. Cars parked in the cul-de-sac also prevent the fire truck from being able to turn around.

Why can't I park in front of the mailboxes?

Answer: The United States Postal Services delivers AG mail via truck. The postal associates must be able to pull up to, and in front of, all the mailboxes in order to deliver mail.

I'm mad and this is unfair! Who do I file a complaint with?

Answer: If you would like to ask why parking is so limited in AG, contact the Board of County Commissioners who approved the original development permits for the townhome developer D.R. Horton. If you have questions regarding the creation of the parking map, contact the Clay County Department of Engineering and Public Works. If you have questions about parking enforcement or a parking ticket, review the Florida Statutes and call the Clay County Sheriff Traffic Section at: (904) 264-6512 to discuss your concern or to report parking violations.
